In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK to deliver a address at the prestigious Oxford Union.
The event was disrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters delayed my talk don't think I can catch the plane we r enroute to the airport".
Epstein responded: "That. Is a gulf air departing at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing helper".
These messages were published on Wednesday together with more than 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.
The disclosure by the House oversight committee contains an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC managed to establish his involvement by matching the timeline, occurrences, and places mentioned.
For example, Epstein discusses arranging a plane from the UK for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and gave the talk at the Oxford Union two days later.
Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.
Bannon served as Trump's key aides in the run up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in 2017.
He has acknowledged he was producing a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and allegedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he said: "We plan to release the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."
But the recently disclosed documents indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.
A few days prior to the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the highest-paid booking agent in the world ".
Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r quite capable asst", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".
Discussing a trip to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."
The published messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in 2018.
Earlier on the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit thing this morning with Farage, Boris and Mogg."
Then, in what seems like a reference to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the time, he continued: "The guys are trying to move on. may today / tomorrow…"
Epstein advised Bannon: "I think staying as long as you can uk. Ideal- so others see the dedication of your follow through."
Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how BUT the people over here have little courage" and added "Boris ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to step up".
Theresa May was eventually toppled in May 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of lack of support in December 2018.
A spokesman for Reform UK told the BBC: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence such a meeting took place.
The US House of Representatives will decide next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files concerning its investigation into Epstein, who passed away in jail in that year.
Interest in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was reignited this week after the release of more than 20,000 documents from his archives.
A portion of those referenced Trump, who has consistently rejected any wrongdoing. The leader was a acquaintance of Epstein's for a long time, but says they parted ways in the 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was initially charged.
