The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
